Ingv's "Words for the Earth" - Seismic Awareness Day 2023
Headquarters open all over Italy with activities, workshops and seminars

Today, January 13, 2023, the fourth "Words for the Earth" Earthquake Awareness Day takes place, the Ingv-National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology event aimed at promoting knowledge of earthquakes, volcanoes, the environment and the activities implemented on prevention of natural risks.
This year's initiative involves the offices in Rome, Lerici, Palermo and L'Aquila, the Geophysical Museum in Rocca di Papa, the Vesuvian Observatory in Ercolano, the Etnean Observatory in Catania and the Irpinia Section in Grottaminarda. A specific program has been planned according to their area of expertise.
The morning dedicated to schools will mark the beginning of the day with experiential workshops and educational paths designed specifically for the youngest visitors, and will continue with the opening to the rest of the public in the afternoon, through different activities according to the areas of interest of the different locations.
Visitors will witness the activities of research, seismic monitoring and surveillance of active volcanic areas through demonstrations, exhibitions and guided tours, observing the instrumentation and workers up close-a great opportunity to see the daily work of scientists and researchers up close.
Thanks to live streaming on the INGV Events YouTube channel, it will also be possible for anyone to follow the seminars remotely.
Every year the Seismic Awarenss Day promoted by Ingv attracts adults and children to a cutting-edge reality, that constantly focuses on the environment and the territory, carrying out activities and scientific research at international level: a moment of knowledge and sharing that sees science and citizenship as active parts of a single process aimed at the mitigation of natural risks in Italy.
